Officials for Independence Cup in Pakistan finalised

The umpiring officials for the upcoming and historic Independence Cup in Pakistan against World XI have been finalised. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been gearing up for the huge event that marks the return of cricket in the country and is making sure everything falls into place. Pakistan is set to play 3 T20 Internationals against the visiting World XI team.

The Independence Cup will be played from September 12 to September 15. The World XI side will be led by South African captain Faf du Plessis. Notable international players like Morne Morkel, Darren Sammy, Imran Tahir, Paul Collingwood, Grant Elliott, Hashim Amla have made the cut to travel to Pakistan. For the first time since 2009, the nation will play in front of their home crowd with the approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC). PCB too is leaving no stone unturned to make it a hugely successful event and invite more teams to tour the country in the near future.

Aleem Dar to officiate in the first game

ICC has already appointed Sir Richie Richardson as the match referee for all the matches. All the 3 T20I matches are scheduled to start at 7 pm local time. Aleem Dar, one of the best umpires and also in the elite panel of ICC, will officiate in the first T20I.

Here are the umpires who will officiate according to reports:

First T20I: September 12: On field Umpires: Aleem Dar and Ahsan Raza. Third Umpire: Shozab Raza. Fourth Umpire: Ahmed Shahab

Second T20I: September 13: On field Umpires: Ahmed Shahab and Shozab Raza. Third Umpire: Ahsan Raza. Fourth Umpire: Asif Yaqoob

Third T20I: September 15: On field Umpires: Ahsan Raza and Shozab Raza. Third Umpire: Ahmed Shahab. Fourth Umpire: Khalid Mahmood Snr

Sri Lanka is set to tour UAE for two Test matches against Pakistan next month. One of the limited overs matches is also being planned to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. West Indies has also expressed their interest to tour the country in November for a series of 3 T20 Internationals.
