'One of the biggest hitters we've ever seen' - Cricket Australia shares MS Dhoni's sixes on his 39th birthday

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not just a name, it’s an emotion for many cricket fans across the world. The legacy of Dhoni is unmatched in today’s cricketing era. The veteran wicketkeeper is loved by the cricket fans of all the generations.

In his 17 years of international career, Dhoni has achieved unprecedented success as a captain and batsman for the Indian team and his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). 

He is the only skipper in the world to have won all the ICC trophies under his leadership – 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. Mahi is an inspiration for all the cricketers across the globe.

The former Indian captain turned 39 on Tuesday (July 7). Social media has been flooded with heartfelt wishes for the Ranchi stalwart from fans and cricket players all over the world. Despite being absent from the match field for more than a year now, there has been no change in the popularity of MS Dhoni.

On this special day, Cricket Australia also extended its warm birthday greetings to the Indian legend. Tweeting a video of Dhoni smashing mind-blowing sixes in Australia, CA termed him as “one of the biggest hitters we’ve ever seen”. The tweet featuring the video went viral across Twitter in no time.

Cricket Australia wrote, “One of the biggest hitters we’ve ever seen! MS Dhoni turns 39 today, and here are his best sixes in Australia!”

 

Till now, Dhoni had played 100 matches against Australia, scoring 2,963 runs at an average of 40.58. The prolific batsman also has three hundreds to his name against the Aussies. Talking about his wicketkeeping expeditions, Dhoni also has the record of taking 110 catches and 38 stumpings while facing the Kangaroos. 

Among all the three formats of the game, Mahi has been ruthless in One-day Internationals against the Aussies. The wicketkeeper-batsman has played 55 ODIs against Australia, scoring 1,660 runs at an average of 44.86 with two hundreds and a high score of 139 not out.  Though the Test stats of Mahi haven’t been great against the Kangaroos, his highest individual Test score of 224 came against them.
