Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni is known to be the best in the business. There is no keeper in international cricket who can match his level of skill and effectiveness behind the wickets. The numbers are also on his side and when the man is in action batsmen just have a very slim breathing space. But in the 2nd T20I against South Africa, the unexpected happened and Dhoni missed a possible stumping.

It was Yuzvendra Chahal bowling at South African T20I skipper JP Duminy who is a wonderful player of spin. Duminy used his feet to get down the wicket and tackle the leggie but was beaten on the leg-side as the bat turned more than he expected. He was way too out of the crease to return in time for a stumping but Dhoni couldn’t collect it.

He had moved to his right and even got his hands in the right place but failed to grab the ball and it slid past towards the short fine leg fielder. Duminy and Beherdien in the meantime scampered for a single. The Proteas skipper was batting on 40 at that time and the South African score was 146/4 in 15 overs. He went on to finish the game for his team with an unbeaten 64 off 40 balls. Behardien also made the opportunity count with a 10-ball 16.

A wicket at that stage with 5 overs to go and 43 runs to win could’ve opened up an opportunity for India. And we all know Chahal is a different bowler once he gets his first scalp. But that was not to be and the master of the craft for once showed his mortal side and missed a huge stumping opportunity.

South Africa eventually won the match with 6 wickets in hand and 8 balls to spare. This win has now levelled the series 1-1 and the final T20I in Cape Town will determine the winner of the series.
