Ahead of the upcoming series between Australia and India, David Warner’s wife Candice has revealed that their middle child’s favourite cricketer is not her father or any other Australian. She revealed that her child’s favourite India cricketer is none other than India skipper Virat Kohli. Warner and Candice are proud parents to three daughters – Ivy-Mae (6), Indi-Rae (4) and Isla Rose (1).

Speaking on a recent radio show, Candice opened up about the Warner family. During the same interaction, she was asked whether the Warner family plays backyard cricket or not. In reply, she said yes before revealing that Indi-Rae wants to be Virat Kohli whenever she plays the game. Candice revealed that while the other child wants to be her dad or sometimes Aaron Finch, Indi-Rae is a big Kohli fan.

“We do play a little bit of backyard cricket. The funny thing is my girls, sometimes they wanna be dad, sometimes they wanna be Finchy (Aaron Finch) but my middle child, she wants to be Virat Kohli. And I am not even joking, her favourite player is Virat Kohli. She is the rebel,” Candice told a Sydney-based radio station.

Shedding more light on Warner family’s backyard cricket, Candice went on to reveal that David maintains his competitive spirit even when he is up against his daughters. She hilariously revealed that sledging is also a part of the backyard cricket.

“The kids blow up because he bowls bouncers to them and they are only like 6 and 4. They are like ‘dad no bouncers or don’t spin the ball’. The sledging still happens in the backyard,” Candice said.

Virat Kohli in Australia

Virat Kohli along with his India teammates is currently in Australia for the upcoming series. David Warner’s daughter can see or even meet her favourite cricketer in the coming days if the families are allowed inside the stadiums. India and Australia will take on each other in three ODIs, three T20Is and four Tests.

Kohli, however, won’t be able to stay in Australia for the entire duration of the tour. The batting superstar will return home after the first Test to be with his pregnant wife Anushka Sharma. The first Test is scheduled to be played from December 17.
