He could not get to raise his bat even once in the entire month of August this year. In six innings that he has played in three away Tests against England, KL Rahul could not score a single fifty and there are already calls for his ouster to make way for youngster Prithvi Shaw in the next Test at the Rose Bowl. Rahul, however, seems to be in high spirits and posted a stylish picture on Twitter only to get trolled by Twitterati.

The 26-year-old batsman, who has gathered just 94 runs in six innings so far at an ordinary average of 15.66, posted on August 27 a picture of him in a blue hooded jacket worn over his bare body and trousers of the same colour with the caption: “Monday Blues?”

The fans on Twitter were quick to pounce upon Rahul for displaying such a stylish photo at a time when his bat is far from speaking. Rahul, who has played 27 Tests for India scoring 1,606 runs, hit four centuries in his first 19 innings but hasn’t scored any in his last 25 innings. His last hundred came against England in the home series in Chennai in December 2016 when he scored 199.

Here is Rahul’s post:

While one of the Twitterati asked whether he too started making style statements like colleague Hardik Pandya, another asked him to practice hard or else he could get dropped. There were also fans who, however, praised his style.

India will meet England for the fourth Test at Rose Bowl, Southampton, starting August 30 and it will be ea crucial one for Virat Kohli’s men if they want to stay alive in the series which they are trailing 1-2 now. India lost the first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s by 31 runs and an innings and 159 runs before making a strong comeback to win the third match at Trent Bridge by 203 runs.

India changed their opening combinations in all games but saw their openers putting up 50 or more scores only thrice out of six innings.
