It wasn’t an ideal start to 2019 for the England cricket team. In the first Test against the Windies, the side was overhauled by a 381-run margin and faced a massive humiliation. In the first innings of the match, the visitors were skittled for a paltry score of 77. This was followed by 246 runs in the second innings. After this loss, pacer Stuart Broad came down hard at skipper Joe Root and the team management.

He expressed disappointment about being left out and stressed that he is currently bowling better than he ever did. Ahead of the first Test, the veteran pacer was a surprise exclusion. England decided to open the bowling with James Anderson and Sam Curran. Ben Stokes was chosen to share the pace duties while two spinners – Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid were picked.

I was very disappointed to be sitting on sidelines

“Naturally, I was very disappointed to be sat on the sidelines this week as you would expect any player to be when not selected for a Test match,” Broad wrote in his column for the Mail Online. “From a personal point of view, I would have loved to have a bowl on this Kensington Oval pitch – it looks like it’s suited to the taller, faster bowlers,” wrote Stuart Broad about the snub.

The veteran of 433 Test wickets emphasised that he’s bowling the best he has ever bowled. He seemed to be one-hundred per cent sure about this fact and added that everyone in the England team knew it. “Another source of frustration is that I’m bowling the best I’ve ever bowled. I believe that 100 per cent. Everyone in this England group knows it too,” he added.

However, Stuart Broad believes that there is no point in sulking about what has already happened. He is eager to be ready for the next opportunity that comes his way. Also, captain Joe Root admitted that leaving out Broad might have gone wrong for the team.

“There is no point in sulking around the place because you need to prepare for your next opportunity,” he noted. Furthermore, Broad concluded by saying that he’ll use the disappointment as a motivation to get himself ready for the next opportunity.
