Australia‘s wrist spinner Mitchell Swepson emulated the celebration style of Shaheen Afridi after taking a brilliant running catch to dismiss the latter during the just-concluded third Test in Lahore. Swepson had to cover a bit of ground and he put out the dive with both hands to ensure the ball did not pop out.
The visitors had set a target of 351 for the host nation to win in the fourth innings and Pakistan fell short by 115 runs after playing 92.1 overs in the end to lose the three-match series 1-0. Nathan Lyon’s fifer was the talking point of the day as the off-spinner accounted for three big names – Imam-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali and Babar Azam. He, later on, picked up the wickets of Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi to pick yet another five-wicket haul in Tests and ended the tour on a really good note.
Coming back to the celebration, Swepson, after taking the catch, turned towards the crowd, kissed the ball, with his arms stretched and two of his fingers pointing out. The move is usually seen with Shaheen who usually celebrates in the same way every time he picks up a wicket and it has been familiar now for the fans as well.
Swepson made his Test debut in the previous game against Pakistan but hasn’t had much impact with the ball in the series despite the spin-friendly conditions. However, he managed to hog the limelight with the catch and the celebration that followed.

Australia grab the honours in the historic series
In their first visit to the country since 1998, Australia has pulled off an amazing victory at the Gaddaffi Stadium in Lahore and has stamped their authority in the longer format. The Pat Cummins–led side thrashed England 4-0 in the Ashes and have now put up a stunning performance in the subcontinent conditions as well.
Cummins bagged the player of the match award for his five-wicket haul in the first innings and picked up three in the second as well. Usman Khawaja proved his sensational capabilities in spin-friendly conditions and bagged the player of the series award after scoring 496 runs in 5 innings on the tour.
