The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put forward advertisements for the post of a power-hitting batting coach for the national cricket team. The PCB has also invited applications for five other coaching positions at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore. The High-Performance coach is among the five coaching positions.

Going by an official in the PCB, Ramiz Raja, the newly-appointed chairman of the Pakistan board, wanted the national cricketers to tune themselves as per the demands of modern-day cricket. It’s the very reason why the PCB has advertised for the batting coach. The PCB also revealed the criteria for appointing the five coaches.

“The High-Performance coach should have a minimum of five years’ working experience over the past 10 years, including as a life coach for elite sportspersons and/or national or international teams,” the PCB was quoted as saying in a statement.

“The eligibility for the other four coaches is a minimum of five years’ working experience over the past 10 years as well as a level three cricket coaching accreditation,” the board added.

Pakistan players gearing up for PSL

Pakistan have done brilliantly over the last couple of months, especially in the T20 format. The team, led by Babar Azam, won five games on the trot in the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup 2021. They beat India, Namibia, Scotland, Afghanistan and New Zealand and went into the semis unbeaten.

However, Matthew Wade’s brilliance in the death overs robbed them off a well-deserved win at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Thereafter, they defeated Bangladesh in the three-match away T20I series in the latter’s backyard. Pakistan also beat the Tigers 2-0 in the Test series that followed the white-ball fixtures.

Moreover, Pakistan whitewashed West Indies in the three-match T20I series played at the National Stadium in Karachi. The ODI series was called off after COVID-19 cases entered the visitors’ camp. In fact, before the start of the T20Is, three Caribbean players tested positive for the virus.

The Pakistan cricketers are next set to take part in the 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League, starting later this month. A few of their players, including Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan, are taking part in the 2021-22 Big Bash League.
