A couple of months ago, the Pakistan team was pasted by the England side in a bilateral ODI series. One of the positives for the Asian side in that sojourn was Asif Ali’s batting in the middle-order. The right-hander was striking the ball well and ended up with two half-centuries.

He was drafted into the ODI squad due to his hitting prowess and he didn’t disappoint as he ended the England trip with a strike-rate of 132. Though the team failed to win a single tie they found a new gem in the form of Asif Ali. His pyrotechnics came at the right time as the Pakistan selectors were looking for a middle-order batsman for the 2019 World Cup.

It seemed that Asif was enjoying the most beautiful time of his career but very few knew that he was going through a personal trauma as his daughter was fighting with cancer. Immediately after the series, it came to light she lost the battle to the deadly disease. Now the cricketer has come out praising the Pakistan legend, Inzamam-ul-Haq for helping him in his tough times.

Asif Ali’s family found out the shocking truth of their toddler’s condition earlier in the year. It was the time when the cricketer was plying his trade for Islamabad United in the 4th season of PSL. Soon he shared the sad news on his Twitter account and thanked the PCB for carrying out the visa process quickly.

The two-year-old received treatment for stage IV cancer in the US but unfortunately, it was too late for her. Finally, on the 20th of May, she left for heaven and the cricketing fraternity offered condolences to the family. After that, the cricketer was picked for Pakistan’s World Cup journey and he served the nation on two occasions.

Now in the wake of Inzamam’s resignation from the selection committee, Asif Ali has expressed his gratitude to the former Pakistan cricketer via a Twitter post. In the message, he has revealed how Inzamam provided him financial support for his daughter’s treatment. According to Asif, he is a cricketer who is beyond his on-field heroics and a role model for the generations to come.
