Australia defeated Pakistan by an innings and 5 runs in Brisbane on Sunday to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series at The Gabba. After attaining a 340-run lead in the first innings, Tim Paine and Co bundled out Pakistan at a score of 335. Marnus Labuschagne (185) and David Warner (154) guided Australia to post a massive total on 580 runs on the board in the first innings.
Babar Azam emerged as the best performer for Pakistan as the 25-year-old scored a vital knock of 104 runs in the second innings. Babar, alongside Mohammad Rizwan, tried to steer Pakistan back into the game with their 132-run partnership for the sixth wicket. However, their efforts were futile as their side succumbed to a formidable Australian bowling attack. Josh Hazlewood ended up getting 4 wickets while Mitchell Starc bagged 3 and Pat Cummins got two.
Pakistan players were picked up by the cabbie from their team hotel in Brisbane
Meanwhile, Pakistan cricketers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Yasir Shah and Naseem Shah treated an Indian taxi driver to dinner after he refused to take money from the players for a ride he gave them in Brisbane.
The cabbie had picked up the 5 players from Pakistan’s team hotel in Brisbane and took them to an Indian restaurant for dinner. However, he refused to take any money from the players. As a result, the Pakistan players returned the favor by inviting the cabbie for dinner with them.
The incident was narrated by ABC radio presenter Alison Mitchell to former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson. Alison Mitchell got to know about the story from the same cabbie, who drove her to the Gabba stadium ahead of the first Test match. The video of Alison telling the story to Johnson blew up the internet and has gone viral on social media.
