‘Pakistan ko on duty bechne wala fixer’ – Sarfaraz Ahmed launches scathing attack towards Salman Butt for criticizing him

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has launched a scathing attack towards tainted cricketer Salman Butt for his comments. Following Quetta Gladiators’ defeat against Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), Butt heavily criticized Ahmed and his behaviour towards players. During the course of the game, the Gladiators skipper was seen lashing out at his bowlers in the crunch moment of the game.

This didn’t go down well with Butt as he questioned Sarfaraz’s performance in the recent past. He even said that the wicketkeeper must focus on his performance and leave other players alone. Ahmed wasn’t amused with Butt’s remarks as he decided to give it back to the former Pakistan opener. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday (February 2), Ahmed said ‘a match- fixer who sold his country’ shouldn’t criticize others.

“Pakistan ko on duty beachne wala fixer jub niyat pe bhashan dega phir to Allah he Hafiz hai (If the one who sold Pakistan on duty is giving lectures, then only god can protect) .#justsying,” tweeted the 34-year-old. Although he didn’t mention Salman’s name, it was evident that the post was directed towards the tainted cricketer.

For the unversed, Salman Butt, alongside Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, was found guilty of spot-fixing during the Lord’s Test in 2010. Butt was leading Pakistan in the game and faced massive backlash for his doings. The trio were subsequently banned and their career came to a standstill. While Amir did manage to make a comeback in 2016, Butt and Asif couldn’t do so.

Nowadays, Butt has been an active cricket analyst, who doesn’t mind giving his opinion on any matter. As mentioned above, he also called out Sarfaraz for Gladiators’ poor show in recent times. “They (Quetta Gladiators) also lost last year. You (Sarfaraz Ahmed) are the captain of the team since the inception of PSL. He is making things difficult for himself and he won’t have any answers tomorrow,” said Salman in a YouTube video.

“He should focus on himself and his performance. He has been travelling as a second wicketkeeper with the Pakistan team since the last couple of years. So, he needs to concentrate on himself instead bothering about other player’s performance,” he added.
