Mohammad Amir troubled Virat Kohli a lot in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy. The left-arm fast bowler first induced the edge of Kohli which was dropped by Azhar Ali in the slips. Amir produced yet another opportunity the very next ball which was sharply held at point. Despite his recent dominance, the 25-year old feels that the Indian skipper is currently the best batsman in the world.

Kohli v Amir

In the past, both of these outstanding talented cricketers have praised each other. Amir, after spending five years out of the game due to a ban which was imposed on him by PCB in 2010, made a rollicking come back to the international fold in 2016. His first high-octane clash was against India in the Asia Cup where the fast bowler showed shades of brilliance to rock India’s top order. In an out and out fast bowling spell, Amir trapped Rohit in front second-ball and then sent Rahane back to the hut in the very first over. Kohli’s technique was tested too but he survived playing percentage cricket. He later acknowledged that it was one of the best spells he has ever faced in his career.

Amir was asked by a fan on Twitter to name a batsman who he feels is the best going around in the world at the moment. The Pakistani was prompt in his reply and took just two minutes to punch in the name of Virat Kohli.

It is fair to say that both these modern-day superstars are at the peak of their prowess. It is a shame that both can’t play against each other too often due to the political turmoil between India and Pakistan. The cricket fraternity is bereaved of watching a top quality fast bowler running into bowl one of the greatest batsmen to have emerged in the last six years.

India v Pakistan still a possibility

However, talks of a bilateral series between India and Pakistan are still on and if the Indian government gives their nod ahead, fans could see a series between both sides very soon.
