Pakistan Super League betting racket busted in Andhra Pradesh, four booked
City Task Force and PM Palem Police conducted joint operation and arrested four persons.

On Sunday, June 13, Andhra Pradesh Police busted a cricket betting racket that was organising betting on the matches of sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which commenced from June 9 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. As many as four people have been arrested while the police have also seized the communication devices used for hosting illegal betting.
The arrested were identified as K. Ravi Kumar (29) of Akkayyapalem, T. Dhanunjaya (34) of Sujatha Nagar, M. Sivaji (29) of Srikakulam and V. Rambabu (43) of MVP Colony. However, the main accused is yet to be found. According to the police officials, Ch. Srinivas, alias cable Srinu, is the main culprit as he hired four people to run the betting.
It is learned that as of now police have seized a set-up box containing 29 mobile phones, headsets, SIM cards along with two television sets, two laptops, one tab, five account books, one router, one router connector, three smartphones and INR 1590 cash.
“The gang had communication set-up box equipment, which had 30 mobile phones, to communicate with 30 persons at a time. The gang used an app to communicate ratings of the match. Moreover, they also cheated the punters by announcing wrong ratings on the matches,” the police said.
CI opens up on the cricket betting racket
According to Ravi Kumar, Circle Inspector (CI), the four persons arrested were betting on the match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. Notably, the match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi was hosted on June 12 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The match was won by Peshawar Zalmi as David Miller played a sublime knock of 73 runs off 46 deliveries.
“City Task Force and PM Palem Police conducted joint operation and arrested four persons on information of cricket betting in Panorama Hills, Visakhapatnam. One CH Srinivasu alias Cable is organizing betting in Panorama Hills, Visakhapatnam.
“Pakistan Super League T20 started from June 9. The accused were betting on the match between Gladiators vs Peshawar teams. PM Palem and the task force police went and arrested the four accused, while residents of CH Srinivasu escaped,” the CI said.
