Australia continued their domination over Pakistan as they registered yet another comfortable win to go 2-0 up in the 5-match ODI series. Mohammad Rizwan scored 115 batting at No.4 to help Pakistan finish on 284/7 despite a top-order failure. Openers Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja added 209 for the first wicket before Khawaja departed for 88. Finch remained unbeaten on 153 to take the Aussies over the winning line with eight wickets and 13 balls to spare.

Here are all the major stats and numbers recorded during Australia’s 5th straight ODI victory:

Yet another record chase by Australia:

285 – The 285-run chase by Australia in this game is the joint-highest successful chase by any team at the Sharjah Cricket Ground. Windies chased down 285 back in 1993 also against Pakistan. It was the 74th ODI hosted by the venue and 164 more ODIs were played there since then.

285 – The chase of 285 is also the 2nd highest successful ODI chase for Australia against Pakistan. They chased down a target of 316 during the 1998 Lahore against the Pakistan team in only 48.5 overs.

285 – This target of 285 chased down by Australia is the highest they ever chased successfully in an ODI losing two or fewer wickets. The previous highest target that Australia chased down for the loss of two or fewer wickets was 281 during the first ODI of this series.

A record knock from Finch:

153* – Aaron Finch’s unbeaten 153 is the 3rd highest individual ODI score for Australia in Asia. Shane Watson scored an unbeaten 183 also during a chase during the 2011 series in Bangladesh. George Bailey scored 156 for the Aussies during the 2013 Nagpur ODI against India.

4 – Finch is only the 4th player to score 150+ in an ODI in the United Arab Emirates; all those four coming in Sharjah. Sanath Jayasuriya scored 189 against India in 200 while Brian Lara scored 169 against Sri Lanka in 1995. Lara also scored 153 when the Windies registered the highest ODI chase in Sharjah against Pakistan in 1993.

The record opening partnership:

209 – The 209-run partnership between Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja is the 2nd highest opening stand in an ODI in the UAE. The pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma added 210 during the Asia Cup game against Pakistan last year in Dubai.

209 – The 209-run stand between Finch and Khawaja is Australia’s highest opening partnership in an ODI chase. Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh added 206 against the Windies during the 2001 Brisbane ODI.

209 – The partnership of 209 between Finch and Khawaja is Australia’s first double century stand for any wicket in the UAE. Michael Clarke and Shane Watson had a 197-run stand between them during the 2009 Abu Dhabi ODI for the 3rd wicket.

Khawaja @ 1000:

27 – Innings Usman Khawaja needed for completing 1,000 runs in the ODI format; the joint 3rd fewest by any Australian. Greg Chappell and George Bailey completed the milestone in their 26th innings while Michael Hussey, Shaun Marsh, and Aaron Finch also needed 27 innings.
