Pakistan have the second Test in control at the end of Day 2. South Africa bowled well on the second morning to leave the hosts struggling at 149/5 and then 190/6. But Faheem Ashraf’s unbeaten 78-run knock helped them reach 272 runs in the first innings with Anrich Nortje picking up a five-wicket haul. The Proteas, in response, crumbled to 106/4 with Quinton de Kock (24*) and Temba Bavuma (15*) in the middle.

Here are all the statistical highlights from Day 2 of the second Test between Pakistan and South Africa:

5/56 – Anrich Nortje returned with the figures of 5/56 in the first innings. These are the third-best bowling figures by a visiting pacer in Pakistan in Tests in the 21st century. Shaun Pollock (6/78 in 2003 Faisalabad Test) and Dale Steyn (5/56 in 2007 Karachi Test) are the other bowlers with five-wicket hauls in Pakistan Tests by a visiting pacer in this century.


678 – Babar Azam has scored 678 runs in nine international matches (8 innings) in Rawalpindi at an average of 112.66 with three centuries and four fifties.


16 – Azhar Ali bagged his 16th duck in the longest format of the game while batting in the top four. These are the third most ducks with David Boon and Stephen Fleming also bagging 16 ducks. Michael Atherton has got out for a duck on 20 occasions while Marvan Atapattu and Younis Khan bagged 17 ducks batting in the top four in Test cricket.


13011 – Fawad Alam became the 19th Pakistani player to complete 13000 runs in first-class cricket. He reached the milestone after going past the individual score of 34 in the first innings.


2000 – Temba Bavuma completed 2000 runs after going past the score of 8 runs. His average of 31.35 is the second lowest for South Africa in Test cricket since 1992 (min: 2000 runs). Mark Boucher has the lowest Test average of 30.54 in Tests since 1992 for South Africa.


3000 – Quinton de Kock completed 3000 runs in Test cricket when he scored 21 runs and became the 16th South African to reach the milestone.


0 – Pakistan and South Africa’s number three batsmen, Azhar Ali and Rassie van der Dussen, bagged ducks in the first innings. This is the first time the number three batters bagged a duck in the first innings of the same Test match in Pakistan.
