Pakistani Women’s cricketer Javeria Khan was stretchered off the field after being hit by a bouncer from West Indies pacer Shamilia Connel during a World T20 match on Wednesday.
Reports suggest that Javeria attempted a pull shot off Connel’s bowling. She got hit between the jaw and the neck, resulting in a serious injury. She was strapped to her jaw and stretchered off the field of play. The Windies, however, were able to successfully defend their frugal total of 104 by restricting the Pakistanis to 99-5 off their quota of 20 overs.
“We have heard from the medical staff that she’s stable and out of danger,” a team official said, adding the player will be kept under observation for another 24 hours at a hospital in Chennai.

Faizan Lakhani, a representative of the Pakistani cricket team took to social media handle twitter to make an official announcement regarding the participation of Javeira Khan. The tweet read “Javeria Khan will not travel with the team to Delhi today, will stay in Chennai’s hospital under observation, likely to miss Saturday’s match.”
The Indian women will take on the Pakistan women on the 19th of March at Chepauk, Chennai. Ironically, it is the same day the Indian men take on Pakistan at the Eden Gardens. The double header will prove to be a mouthwatering clash between two of the fiercest rivals in World Cricket. The Indian men will be hoping for a better showing from the previous game, where they fell disappointingly short of the New Zealand total by 47 runs.
