Former Pakistani skipper Imran Khan has come under the attack of a politician in Pakistan in a recent turn of events. The politician has claimed that during the playing days, Imran was one of the few players who were into match fixing. Muhammad Mehdi, a politician of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has made some serious allegations on the World Cup winning skipper.

The Pakistan cricket has seen a lot of turmoil due to the spot-fixing and match-fixing allegations in the recent past. The 2010 infamous spot-fixing scandal had rocked the country as three key players were convicted for framing the game in the tour to England. This included the then skipper Salman Butt and pace sensation Mohammad Amir. Now, during the recent edition of the Pakistan Super League, new reports of spot-fixing surfaced the media.

The likes of Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed, and Mohammad Irfan found their names involved in the scandal. Many people try to cite the roots for this unscrupulous bug in the Pakistani cricket circuit. If the words of a politician from the country is to be believed, then things might date back to the times when Imran Khan was playing for the country.

As per the quotes in Tribune.com.pk, Muhammad Mehdi had noted that Imran was involved in match fixing. He was quoted as saying that there was a time when Imran had refused to bowl a key over in the match. It was in the very same year when he bought a new house in London.

“A complete probe is the need of hour to trace out the amount Imran took in reward for his dubious refusal to bowl despite being the main striker of the team,” he quoted.

He also added the Imran Khan had left the team during the 1983 World Cup when the team needed his services the most. Also, the fact that Imran often fancied money was evident from the fact that he chose to play for Kerry Packer’s series.
