Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has quashed all rumors about the finger injury that many had speculated about. During the most recent Ranji fixture of the Gujarat team, Parthiv was hit on his finger on the penultimate day of the game. It was a quarterfinal match and the stakes were high against the spirited Bengal side.

In the match, Parthiv Patel was seen heading to the dressing room soon after the severe blow that hit his hand. His teammate Anuj Rawal kept the wickets in the match thereafter. This led to a lot of speculations being made that Parthiv had ended up injuring his finger. This could have had a potential big blow to his career too since he has been named in the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa.

Team India is set to play 3 Tests in South Africa commencing on January 5 this year. Patel has been added to the squad as a back up wicketkeeper to Wriddhiman Saha. The last time Parthiv was named in the Indian Test squad was during the England tour of India in 2016-17 season.

While the rumors had started to take acceleration, Parthiv himself has come up to the fore to quash them. In a social media update, the veteran cricketer posted a message saying that he is not injured.

Here is the tweet:

“Thank you for the concern…there is nothing wrong with my finger…,” tweeted Parthiv Patel.

Talking about the end result of the Ranji Trophy quarter final match against Bengal, team Gujarat failed to qualify for the semi finals. They lost the match to the Manoj Tiwary-led side after conceding a mammoth 825 runs first innings lead in the match. It was certainly a crashing end to the journey of the defending champions this season. Parthiv had led Gujarat to the title win last year.
