Australian pace spearhead Pat Cummins avoided a serious injury after taking a nasty tumble while bowling in the second ODI against India. Both teams are currently battling it out in Kolkata at Eden Gardens. The game started in time amidst all the rain in the lead-up to the game and surprisingly the rain gods relented on the match day much to the roar of the fans present in the Stadium.

Australia would desperately want the rain to stay away in this game during their chase as the MET department has predicted for the evening showers on Thursday. The visitors had to go after a stiff target in Chennai after the rain started pelting down post India’s innings. They crumbled under pressure and handed the hosts a lead of 1-0.

Pat Cummins tumble

The incident happened as Cummins ran in to bowl the fourth delivery of his third over of the spell. Indian opener Ajinkya Rahane was set to face the ball but the pacer took a nasty tumble while into his bowling stride. The bowl slipped out of his fingers and in the process, Cummins fell down in his follow through as well. The youngster was down on his knees after the incident and could do nothing but smile along with his teammates. However, he escaped very nearly from getting injured as he got himself into a tangle while bowling and anything could have happened.

Australia coming back in style

After opting to bat first, India got off to a brilliant start despite losing Rohit Sharma early. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane played superbly in the scorching heat to lead India to 121 in 23 overs. But Australia hit back well as they picked regular wickets to put India under huge pressure. Men in Blue posted 252/10 after 50 overs.
