The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaving in no stone unturned in their attempts to revive the international cricket in the country. They hosted a couple of matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) this year even as a handful of foreign cricketers took part. World XI, Sri Lanka and Windies are the other three teams to have visited Pakistan and most of them have felt that it is a safe place to play cricket nowadays. However, PCB is now trying to lure a two major Test playing nations to visit them which will clear the doubts of the other teams as well.

Recently, Najam Sethi had requested England as well during the recently concluded Test series between the hosts and Pakistan. They are also trying to shift the whole PSL back home next year which is a huge step as it remains to be seen if the foreign players will participate in the tournament.

Which countries are likely to travel?

According to the reports in Pak Passion, Najam Sethi is currently in talks with Australia and New Zealand as PCB has requested them to visit Pakistan for a series later this year. The Trans Tasman nations are scheduled to play the Men in Green between October to December this year and New Zealand is ready to consider the request as of now.

“New Zealand have said that they will consider our request, provided we think the security is OK. If that is the case, they may play one or two games in Pakistan,” Sethi said while also hoping that their neighbours will also take a positive step if the tour of Blackcaps is successful. “If we can get New Zealand to come and play, then I believe we have a good case to make with Australia who could follow on the heels of their neighbours,” he added.

Sethi was also of the opinion that in case both Australia and New Zealand tour Pakistan, then it will help to eradicate the doubts from the minds of almost all the nations about playing in the country. “If both Australia and New Zealand come to play even one or two games in Pakistan, then by the time for our home series with England, we could persuade them to play in Pakistan too,” the PCB Chairman concluded.
