The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to form a cricket committee to look after the domestic cricket in the country. The committee is likely to involve some of the former greats of Pakistan cricket and the two names leading in the list are of Misbah-ul-Haq and Wasim Akram. Many have lashed out at the poor state of domestic cricket in the country and recently Misbah himself had expressed his concern over the same.
PCB’s new chairman Ehsan Mani is consulting the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and also discussed the possibility of including the former greats. Earlier, even the former cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja had also stressed on taking urgent measures in the management and administration departments in order to improve the quality of domestic cricket.
“Such a committee should be given the task of taking care of domestic cricket as well as of improving the Think Tank responsible for making crucial decisions,” he had said.
Intikhab Alam is also a stronger contender
According to the reports in The Nation, the PCB, on Sunday, confirmed that they are considering the names of Wasim Akram and Misbah-ul-Haq who have been the former Pakistan captains. The former cricketer and the manager Intikhab Alam is also likely to be part of the committee.
“There is complete confidence over the names of Misbah and Wasim with players from the 70s and 90s also expected to be a part of the committee. Former captain and manager Intikhab Alam is also a stronger contender to be a part of the cricket committee,” the sources said.
This committee is also expected to help in roping in some of the budding cricketers who are doing well in the domestic arena. The inclusion of the former cricketers will make things transparent as well given that they always work towards the betterment of the country.
