The political relations between India and Pakistan are not on good terms over the last few years. But the emergence of the former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of the country a couple of months ago had increased the hopes of an improvement. Even he had expressed his desire to work on it from the word go during his tenure at the helm. Accordingly, Imran had also written a letter to Narendra Modi for a peace dialogue between the two countries.

He had sought for a meeting between Sushma Swaraj and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Indian and Pakistan foreign minister respectively, later this month in his letter. He wanted the peace dialogue among India and Pakistan which was launched in 2015 should continue again and was also of the opinion that they should look at resolving all major outstanding issues including terrorism and the most important Kashmir issue.

But his efforts have gone in vain it seems as Imran Khan has expressed his disappointment over India’s negative response to his letter.

Khan’s tweet

Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister took to his official Twitter handle to express his dismay over the matter and tweeted, “Disappointed at the arrogant & negative response by India to my call for the resumption of the peace dialogue. However, all my life I have come across small men occupying big offices who do not have the vision to see the larger picture.”

These harsh words from Imran came after India called off the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of two nations which was scheduled to be held in New York later this month. He has taken a direct dig over the Modi-led Indian government and it remains to be seen if any of their official comments on the issue. The reason for the calling off the meeting is not yet known but Imran is not happy clearly with the Indian government.
