One of the most celebrated cricketers in the country, MS Dhoni has had a huge fan base in the country and around the world. The legendary batter has won three ICC trophies with the Indian side as the skipper and has led the Chennai Super Kings to four titles in the IPL so far. He has a strong connection with the Chennai fans, and is popularly called the ‘Thala’ for his cool leadership and ability to handle pressure.

CSK’s popularity has spread to many countries and England Women’s bowler Kate Cross recently revealed her love for the franchise. She also heaped praise on Dhoni for the way he has been leading the franchise and felt that the CSK fans have had a great influence on her career.

There are so many people who are following my cricket because of Chennai: Kate Cross

Cross mentioned that her career has taken a massive stride in terms of following and feedback since she expressed her love for CSK. She hailed the fans for their support and felt amazed by the reaction of the fans once she starting following CSK in 2018. She claimed herself as a Dhoni fan and highlighted the latter’s captaincy potential.

“I get so much feedback when I’m talking about the Chennai Super Kings. Honestly, the following from that team has even crossed over into my career because there are so many people who are following my cricket because of Chennai, it’s really special. I think that is something the group could be proud of that they have those amazing fans who are willing to support anyone and anything related to [the team]. I think, it’s pretty amazing,” Kate told News18 Cricketnext.

“I think everyone is a MS Dhoni fan who supports CSK. I don’t know if I know anyone who doesn’t like him as a person or as a cricketer. I’ve just always looked at the way he has led his team. He looks really calm and collective. I’ve been a captain myself and I know how stressful those situations could be to be able to show that even if you are not feeling it is quite a skill.

“Obviously, he has been such a servant to his country and the team he plays for. He is a great player when I talk about international cricket. You’ll always feel anything could happen when he is out there playing which I think, is a mark of a really special player,” she added.
