India is up against England in Test two at the Lord’s and if there is one Indian player who ruled the show upright, it has to be none other than KL Rahul. Marking his Test comeback in a great manner, Rahul already showed signs of brilliance in the first Test and Trent Bridge but his innings as Lord’s just turned out to be phenomenal.

Rahul played a classy inning of 129 runs before making his way back to the pavilion. He stood firmly with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and built crucial partnerships for India. In the same turn of events, he opened with Rohit Sharma in detail about the journey he had after getting dropped from the Test side.

It has to be noted that the Karnataka batsman was dropped from the purest format of the game after sustaining a poor run and he accepted from his end only that performances were just not coming. Rahul went to speak about how it was extremely special for him to have a century at the home of the cricket and also how he always wanted to be a cricketer of the Test format.

Getting dropped from Test cricket was disappointing: KL Rahul

“It’s very, very special. Not because it was a hundred at Lord’s, that adds to the excitement and joy. I have been away from Test cricket for a couple of years now. I have grown up wanting to be a Test cricketer and to play Test cricket.”

“Getting dropped from Test cricket was disappointing. It did hurt but I had nobody else to blame but myself. Performances weren’t there; I just had to wait for my opportunity. The way it came to me I think it was meant to be for me. Just enjoyed my batting and getting a hundred at Lord’s makes it even more special,” said Rahul while speaking to Rohit Sharma in a video posted by BCCI’s official website.

By smashing a classy century against England in the 2nd Test, Rahul registered his name on the honour board of the Lord’s which always remains a massive feat in a cricketer’s international journey.
