Players who missed out on ICC ODI XI 2015: The ICC announced its Test and ODI Teams of the Year, chosen by a specially appointed selection panel, chaired by the ICC’s Cricket Committee chairman and former India captain Anil Kumble and a jury comprising of former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop, ex-England batsman Mark Butcher, former Australia women’s captain Belinda Clark and G. Viswanath, Deputy Editor of The Hindu & Sportstar. The qualification period ran from September 18, 2014, to September 13, 2015.
While the players who made it into the top XI for the calendar year have been in the news, there have been other players who missed out on the opportunity from a very close margin.
Here is the list of Players who missed out on ICC ODI XI 2015, who had an excellent record to back their performances.
Martin Guptill:
The New Zealand opener had a stunning start to the 2015 season with a World Cup double century. Guptill scored 237 runs of 163 balls against the West Indies. Guptill was also New Zealand’s highest run getter in the ODI World Cup this year with 547 runs under his name. In the 34 innings that he has played since September 2014, he has amassed 1381 runs at an average of 46.03. He is the fourth highest run-getter in the period that ran from September 2014 to September 2015.
