The Pakistan cricket has touched a new low in the aftermath of their poor performance in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2019. Many of the former cricketers and the fans have called for a major overhaul of the country’s cricketing system. They have asked the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene given that he is the patron of the PCB.

Pakistan couldn’t make the semi-finals of the World Cup, after having a shaky start losing to West Indies and arch-rivals India in their first few matches which hampered their net run-rate. Despite defeating the likes of South Africa, England, Afghanistan, and others in the second half of the event, they fell short by inches to march on. The hosts piped the Men in Green to reach the knockouts by beating India and New Zealand in their last two league matches.

Recently, Imran Khan who is on a tour to the USA held an event addressing the Pakistani community in Washington DC, and during the address made bold claims of turning the country’s game around. In a video that has surfaced online, the PM vowed to improve the standards of the team and bring a more professional outlook to the entire team by the next World Cup.

He also explains to the people watching him that he went to England to learn the intricacies of the game and after doing so came back to teach other players in Pakistan. He also vowed to make the team more professional by the next World Cup event in 2023 to be held in India and has taken upon himself to change the face of the game.

“When I reached heights in Cricket, I went to England. I learned there and came back and raised the standard. Now, after the World Cup, I’ve decided to improve the standard of the Pakistan team. For the next World Cup, just see, it’ll be a professional team on the ground, the best team,” Imran Khan was quoted as saying in the video.

The video has gone viral on Twitter, given that Imran Khan had made lots of claims and promises when he became the Prime Minister of Pakistan some time ago, but like the country’s cricket team, the whole nation is under severe problems of financial crisis and poverty with the country under crushing debt.

Twitterati took no time in trolling the former World Cup-winning captain and here are some of the best tweets.
