I prefer football to cricket: Mayanti Langer

Television anchor Mayanti Langer has mostly been in the limelight, not for her performance as an anchor but rather for the poor performances of her husband, Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny. To be fair, Binny hasn’t done that bad while playing for the Indian team but has been on the receiving end of social media trolls more often than not. During an interview with a Bengali daily Ananda Plus, Mayanti said that she always maintains a balance between her personal and professional career.

“I get disappointed and at times very happy. But I am never in a situation to express my feelings. Once you get inside the studio, you are from a different planet. Personal feelings do not find a place at work,” said Mayanti.

Mayanti feels that the knowledge about the game is what it takes to be an anchor and glamour and fashion doesn’t have anything to do with it. “How well you dress, what you wear, no one is bothered about it. After office, people want to hear about gossip from the cricketing world, which is the most important thing. Applying make-up for hours in spite of having very little knowledge about the game won’t help. It is useless to expose your body and glamour inside the cricket field,” she added.

She also revealed that she is much more of a football fan than cricket as she grew up watching and playing football. “I prefer football to cricket. I’ve grown up watching and playing football. So, I am more of a football fan. But nowadays, I understand a lot about cricket after sitting outside the field for long hours,” she concluded.
