Mumbai Indians (MI) director of cricket Zaheer Khan has acknowledged that the pressure level is “at its highest” after losing six matches in a row. Zaheer also emphasized the fact that the players will have to show some character to bounce back in the tournament.

To note, Mumbai Indians are the only franchise in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 that is yet to open account, as they have lost all of their six matches so far. MI suffered defeats at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Punjab Kings (PBKS), and the new entrants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

‘Young talents have impressed so far’ – Zaheer Khan on Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma

“This is a team sport so we have to stick together, have to find ways of coming together, and then become a force. Each season has its challenges and the pressure is at its highest so we have to show that kind of character, that fight, and determination. You have to take the disappointing moments in your stride, that’s what cricket teaches you,” Zaheer Khan was quoted by Mid-day.

The veteran Indian pacer also indicated that South African star Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma had been some positive talking points in the camp so far. “The partnership of the young guns — going out there and creating scenarios where they put bowlers under pressure — is something we look for, the spark that we talk about. The guys are keen on turning things around and we just have to back them. Not every day will be your day – but it’s about how you take it, what you learn from it and how you adapt, ” Zaheer added.

Meanwhile, the five-time champions MI will take on the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on April 21 (Thursday). To note, CSK have also lost their last match against the Titans.
