Prithvi Shaw is one of the rarest of batting talent that one would find going around the country. He has been making news since he was a young cricketer in the Mumbai club cricket level. From there, he has become the youngest Indian to hit a century on Test debut and currently, he is one of the front-runners for the opening spot in the Indian Test team.

Prithvi Shaw is without a doubt very talented and will go on to play for India for years. However, he has had the right people prepping him up for the big stage. In a recent interview, the young Mumbai batsman said that he tries to meet Sachin Tendulkar whenever they both are in Mumbai. He also revealed that Tendulkar sometimes comes down to give him advice on batting.

‘Whenever Sachin sir is in Mumbai, I try and meet him’: Prithvi Shaw

“Whenever Sachin sir is in Mumbai, I try and meet him. If I am practising and Sachin sir is free, he just comes to the nets and gives advice,” Shaw said while talking to the Times of India. Shaw then went on to say that he regularly takes help from Sachin whenever he feels any discomfort in batting.

The youngster also revealed that Tendulkar has given him a license to call him anytime whenever feels any problem. It should be noted that Shaw has always looked up to Sachin as his idol like many young batsmen in India.

“Whenever I feel any discomfort with batting, or need any advice, he is someone who is always there for me. He has told me to feel free about calling or messaging him anytime. He has helped me a lot during my journey,” Shaw added.

Shaw also credited Rahul Dravid for helping him through his cricketing life. He said that Dravid has helped him a lot for the past two or three years.

“Rahul sir has played a big role in my cricketing life as well as life outside the boundary rope. Being a disciplined sportsperson himself, Rahul sir talks about those things. I have really learnt a lot about the mental aspect of the game from him. A lot of things that I have learnt in the past three-four years during my Under-19 World Cup journey as well as India A are down to him,” Shaw said. Dravid was the coach of the India U-19 team which won the World Cup in 2018, under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw.
