Match 15 of the Indian Premier League 2022 will witness Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) taking on Delhi Capitals (DC) at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on 7th April. LSG will be confident after a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their last outing, while DC are coming into this game after a loss against Gujarat Titans (GT).

In the latest interaction, the assistant coach of DC, Shane Watson spoke on the challenges posed by LSG as a team and having quality all-round options like Jason Holder, Krunal Pandya, and Deepak Hooda is an asset to them. But, he reiterated the fact that too many options can be a headache for KL Rahul and company in the tournament.

You can’t also have too many bowling options: Shane Watson

“Having quality all-round options is a huge advantage to the captain, there’s no doubt. If one of the main bowlers is having an off-day, you can mix and match your bowlers, try to limit the damage,” Watson told Hindustan Times at a media interaction ahead of the LSG-DC clash.

The former Aussie opener aimed at the presence of experienced all-rounders in the LSG team, who are doing quite well in the tournament. In three matches, Krunal has contributed 27 runs and picked up three wickets, and Hooda has scored 119 runs and picked a single wicket. In the last game against SRH, Jason Holder played his first match of this season and returned with figures of 3/34 off four overs, providing a lusty blow at the end of the innings as well.

“Krunal Pandya has bowled really well, and so did Deepak. Jason Holder was a huge inclusion in the last game for LSG. So, there’s no doubt that having all-round bowling options plays a part.” Watson added.

However, Watson concluded the response on this topic by stating that too many bowling options can be a big headache for the LSG captain KL Rahul, and it will be a little difficult to decide who will bowl a particular over, and clarity of thought will be missing.

“But at the same time, you can’t also have too many bowling options. It can be difficult to decide how you’re going to give everyone a go. It’s great to have plenty of options but sometimes, it can provide a big headache for the captain. But at the moment, they have all the bases covered,” Watson concluded.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will look to find contributions from their all-rounders like Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, and Lalit Yadav, who helped the team secure a victory in the first league match against Mumbai Indians.
