India won the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand by 5-0. Both the heavyweights gave a tough fight to each other. But, in the end, Men in Blue successfully managed to get their hands on the winning trophy. Post India’s triumph, skipper Virat Kohli has shared a still with his teammates after winning the historic series with a mesmerising caption.

Virat Kohli and Co. got off to a great start on their first away tour with a win in the series opener by six wickets followed by their next four consecutive wins against the BlackCaps. The visitors didn’t give a single moment of joy to the hosts as they successfully whitewashed BlackCaps for the first time in a five-match series in the shorter format.

The series was a roller coaster ride where the winner of T20Is was decided with two enthralling Super Overs. The interesting fact is that Team India had a worse winning ratio against New Zealand but they certainly reduced it by winning back-to-back games.

Today, in the fifth and final T20I match, India posted a competitive total of 163 runs for a loss of three wickets. Rohit Sharma (60), KL Rahul (45) and Shreyas Iyer (33) played responsible knocks with the bat. In reply, New Zealand came with an emphatic response on the back of brilliant batting of Tim Siefert (50) and Ross Taylor (53).

However, that was not enough to help their side in winning their first game against Team India in the T20I series. Jasprit Bumrah, who looked quite out of touch in the previous games, bowled at his best. He registered amazing bowling figures of 3/12 due to which he was awarded Man of the Match.

Virat Kohli defines 5-0 victory against New Zealand

After the conclusion of the game, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, who was rested in the 5th T20I, took to his Twitter handle and shared a still along with his team. He also gave a mesmerising caption to the snap that read, “Proud, historic, ecstatic; everything was this moment.”

From the perspective of Men in Blue, it was a cherishing end, who attained several positives at the end of the series. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer proved their worth in the team with their performances on the away soil as many fans were in a dilemma whether the two batsmen would be able to deliver overseas.

The duo performed exceptionally well with the bat. The former mustered 224 runs whereas the latter scored 153 runs in five games. Even Rahul was given Man of the Series for his contribution with the bat. Both the batsmen, at least for now, have cemented their place in the shorter format. Also, they have emerged as the frontrunners to get picked by the selectors in the upcoming T20 World Cup squad.
