Proud parents shower praises on son Rohit Sharma after his double ton

When India‘s stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma hit his 3rd double ton during the second game against Sri Lanka, his wife Ritika Sajdeh was in the stadium and one could notice how tense she was as the opener neared the second hundred of his knock. The expressions on her face were telling the story.

It was their second marriage anniversary. And when Rohit took the single to get to his double ton, she almost was in tears. Back home in Mumbai, his parents were glued to the TV as their son was about to reach the mighty landmark of hitting 3 double tons while no one else has managed to score 2 of them.

His mother Poornima was speaking to India Today after son Rohit’s blitz at the PCA stadium and she was overjoyed with the fact that Ritika was there on their wedding anniversary. “I don’t have words to express. It feels very good. It’s his anniversary today and our daughter-in-law is also there so that feels very good. All the wishes and luck worked for him,” she said.

Rohit used to live in a flat in Borivali, a western suburb part of the city. After his brilliant performances and successful stints with Mumbai Indians as the skipper and opening batsman for India, he bought a house in the premier part of the city in Worli where his parent live now.

His father Gurunath said, “We have seen tough days and now here we are today. It’s Rohit’s achievements that have brought us here today. We know he has achieved something remarkable by scoring three double tons.”

His mother hoped that the son will win the series as well as he has done successfully captaining the Mumbai side in the Indian Premier League. “When he first became captain of his IPL team we were very happy. Then he began winning titles for them. Now that he has got this chance we hope he can win titles here as well,” said the jubilant mother.
