PSL 2018: Brendon McCullum optimistic about Qalandars succeeding in the tournament

The 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set to get underway. With the tournament a couple of days away, the preparations are going on with full swing. In the Lahore Qalandars camp, their skipper Brendon McCullum was recently seen attending the training sessions with the other players. The Qalandars have had two disappointing seasons in the tournament history.

However, this year, Brendon McCullum is optimistic about a good show with his team. As per the recent quotes in Geo.tv, the former New Zealand skipper remarked that his team is set to play fearless cricket and selfless cricket. The Qalandars will play their first match against the Multan Sultans on February 23.

“Looking forward to the PSL, hopefully we’ll well, we trying to play absolutely fearless cricket and selfless cricket and make a mark this year. It’s good to be back in the PSL, my second time here, but it’s the third edition. Good to be back with all the Qalandars boys and I think they have made very very good side,” Brendon McCullum quoted.

Turn things around this year

Brendon McCullum noted that the current lot of the Lahore Qalandars is a very talented one. He expressed his happiness over the fact that he has been asked to lead the side yet again. He is hoping to prove the loyal Qalandar fans that the team is capable of doing great things in the competition.

“Couple of disappointing years, but may be this is the year when we can stand up and really show the skills and the talent we have and put it all together out in the field, for the people of Lahore and supporters of Qalandars. I am very very pleased to be leading the team once again,” he mentioned.

Commenting on the young Fakhar Zaman, one of the brightest prospects in the Qalandars side this year, McCullum praised the youngster calling him a ‘fantastic player’. “Fakhar Zaman is fantastic young player, it is fantastic to have him,” he said.
