The third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is fast approaching the playoffs with almost all the teams playing 8 matches. The knockout matches of the tournament including the final will be played in Lahore and Karachi with a handful of international players agreeing to travel to the country. However, in what comes as a sad news for the fans, few of England players have denied travelling to Pakistan in case their respective teams qualify for the playoffs.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has continued its efforts of reviving the international cricket in the country with a lot of cricket fans being deprived of the same since 2009. While they successfully hosted World XI and Sri Lanka last year, they are set to welcome Windies for 3 T20Is in April after the conclusion of T20 tournament.

Who are the players?

The likes of Eoin Morgan, Sam Billings, Jason Roy and Alex Hales have clearly denied travelling to Pakistan if their teams qualify for the knockout stages of PSL. According to Sunday Times, all these players have taken this decision without any security advice. They joined their respective teams on Monday and will be available only for a couple of matches and the first qualifier of the tournament now.

Morgan represents Karachi Kings who are currently third in the points table and are the favourites to qualify for the playoffs. Hales and Billings will feature for Islamabad United as they’ve won 5 matches so far and have almost sealed their place in the next round. Same is the case with Quetta Gladiators who are on the top of the charts and Jason Roy will most likely play next game for them.

The first qualifier of the PSL will be played on March 18 in Dubai while the last three matches are scheduled to be played in Lahore and Karachi as the latter will host the title clash.
