PSL 2018: Tempers flare between Mohammad Amir and Ahmed Shehzad

Emotions are getting better of the players with the tournament going deep now.

There are quite a few incidents coming forward of Pakistan players engaging in the war of words among themselves during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Recently, even the likes of Rahat Ali and Imad Wasim were involved in a banter as the latter was unhappy with the send-off given by the bowler after taking his wicket. However, Mohammad Amir and Ahmed Shehzad exchanged some words on Saturday in a heated encounter between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.

The incident happened during the fourth over of the Sultans’ chase when Amir unknowingly came in between Shehzad while running. The batsman was not at all amused with the actions of Amir and the banter between the two started. They were seen gesturing towards each other a lot of times during the same over and the scenes were not looking very good. Shahid Afridi though was seen calming the nerves of Amir even as Kumar Sangakkara adviced Shehzad to focus on his game and the chase.

What happened in the match?

Multan Sultans were chasing 189 runs in the match against Karachi Kings and succumbed to pressure eventually as they were bundled out for 125 losing the game by 63 runs. Also, during the course of the game, even Afridi lost his cool and gave a rude send-off to Saif Badar after castling him in the 10th over. Though the veteran apologised the youngster over the incident later in a tweet.

It is natural to see the tempers flare between the players during the close tournament like PSL as all the teams are vying for a spot in the playoffs. The matches are getting ever so close that the emotions get better of the players in some cases. More competitive matches are on their way in the tournament and it should not be surprising if more such incidents come to the fore in the near future.
