Fast bowler Wahab Riaz is a whole-hearted trier and his intensity on the park never dies down. Back in 2015, during the 2015 World Cup, he bowled some venomous bouncers to Shane Watson and got under his skins. He also churns out new celebrations from time to time. In the last edition’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), the experienced campaigner tweaked his moustache to celebrate.

This year, the 33-year-old has churned out another new style of celebration and a glimpse of it was seen when he was playing for Peshawar Zalmi in their match against Quetta Gladiators at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. While defending 155, the Zalmi found themselves in a rather precarious position courtesy of a solid stand between Umar Akmal and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Wahab churns out something unique

Albeit Akmal was the danger-man, Sarfaraz, also the Pakistan national cricket team’s captain, looked determined to see the Gladiators through to a comprehensive victory. The Zalmi, led by Darren Sammy, were in dire requisite of a wicket as the two batsmen were running away with the encounter. Then came Wahab and removed the ominous-looking stand of 62 runs from 49 deliveries.

In the third ball of the 17th over, Riaz came from around the stumps and churned out a full-length delivery and Sarfaraz tried to smack the leather through the off-side. The batsman made room, connected well, but couldn’t get any elevation. Sammy inside the circle took a sharp catch. Then Wahab churned out a celebration, which was pretty similar to Undertaker, a WWE wrestler.

He made a cross sign with his left hand and then made a gesture of finishing someone. Nevertheless, it was the last moment of joy for Wahab and the Zalmi as Akmal scored 75 unbeaten runs from 50 deliveries to take his team through to a victory. Apart from Umar’s wicket, the veteran Wahab Riaz also nipped out Rilee Rossouw, who scored 19 runs from 15 balls.
