The fourth edition of the prestigious Pakistan Super League (PSL) is scheduled to get underway today at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The opening match of the T20 extravaganza would be played between defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars, who finished as the cellar dwellers in all three previous editions of the tournament.

This time around, as many as eight matches would be played in Pakistan, including a few in the round-robin stage. The tournament authorities are also planning to host the entire event in Pakistan in 2020. Apart from cricket, the tournament will also observe childhood and breast cancer awareness on Friday, February 15, which is also the International Child Hood Cancer Awareness Day.

The heart-warming initiatives

Two matches are scheduled for tomorrow. Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans will lock horns tomorrow followed by the one between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, last year’s runners-up. Both the contests will be played in Dubai itself. All the four teams would be wearing the Golden Ribbon, including the umpires as per reports in The News International.

The match related equipment and even the renowned venue will also be themed on the auspicious location. The PSL would also be flying in a child cancer patient and his caretaker. On Sunday, March 10, the event, matches would be staged in Karachi and Lahore. The Karachi Kings, led by all-rounder Imad Wasim, would be playing against Quetta Gladiators in Karachi in the day’s first encounter.

On the other hand, the Qalandars, led by Mohammad Hafeez, would be crossing swords with the Sultans in Lahore. All fours teams that day would be wearing the Pink Ribbon, related to the Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Even the stumps, venues and other match related equipment would be decorated as per the occasion. Even the commentators would be wearing the ribbons.
