Lahore Qalandars registered their 3rd win in the past four matches which helped them to move out of the bottom spot in the points table. Karachi Kings posted 187/5 in their 20 overs as Alex Hales scored an unbeaten 48-ball 80. Lahore was going along at a run-rate of 6 by the fall of 2nd wicket during their chase. However, skipper Sohail Akhtar was joined by Ben Dunk and the duo turned the game into their hands. Dunk raced to a 23-ball fifty smashing seven sixes and hit five more in his unbeaten 40-ball 99. Sohail anchored the chase with an unbeaten 68 to take the team over the line with five balls to spare.

A record chase by Qalandars:

188 – Lahore Qalandars’ successful chase of 188 in this match is their 2nd highest successful chase in the Pakistan Super League. Their highest is 201 against the Multan Sultans in the previous edition match in Sharjah. This is also the first successful chase of 170+ target over Karachi Kings in the PSL.

Only twice any team recorded a higher total against Karachi in the PSL than 190/2 by Qalandars in this match – 203/7 in 2019 and 191/7 in 2020; both by Peshawar Zalmi at the National Stadium in Karachi.


188 – The 188-run chase by Qalandars is also the highest successful run-chase for any team in the PSL at the loss of two or fewer wickets. The previous highest was 167 by Islamabad United against Qalandars for the loss of two wickets during the 2016 edition match.


The six-hitting fest in Lahore:

24 – As many as 24 sixes were hit across both the innings during this match; the 3rd most number of sixes hit during a PSL match. The 2019 season game between Islamabad and Lahore witnessed 27 sixes while Quetta-Lahore match in 2017 recorded a total of 26 sixes. The Qalandars alone smashed 14 sixes in this game which are the joint 2nd most by any team.


Dunk’s record knock:

12 – Ben Dunk smashed 12 sixes during his unbeaten 99-run knock; the most number of sixes in a PSL innings surpassing his own record of 10 sixes in the game against Quetta Gladiators last week. No player other than Dunk hit more than 8 sixes in a PSL inning.


99* – Dunk’s unbeaten 99 is now the highest individual score for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL surpassing Mohammad Hafeez’s 98* against Islamabad United earlier this season.


247.5 – Ben Dunk’s batting strike of 247.5 during his 40-ball 99* is now the highest SR for any player in a PSL inning of 30+ runs. The previous highest was 241.02 by Luke Ronchi during his unbeaten 39-ball 94 for Islamabad also against Karachi during the 2018 edition.


Dunk finishes on “99”:

1 – Ben Dunk became the first player to record multiple scores of 99 in the Twenty20 format. He remained unbeaten on 99 for the NMB Giants against Tshwane Spartans in the recent MSL 2019 season. The 99* is also the Dunk’s joint highest score in his T20 career.


99* – Ben Dunk is also the first player to record an unbeaten 99 in Pakistan Super League. He is only the 2nd player after Ahmed Shehzad to record a score of 99 in the PSL. Shehzad was dismissed one short of a century during the last season’s match also against Karachi while playing for Quetta Gladiators.


A record partnership by Akhtar-Dunk pair:

140* – The unbeaten 140-run stand between Sohail Akhtar and Ben Dunk is now the highest stand in the Pakistan Super League for the 3rd wicket surpassing Dawid Malan and Mohammad Hafeez pair’s 139-run stand for Peshawar against Quetta in the 2017 season.

This is also the 4th highest partnership for any wicket in the PSL and the 2nd highest for Lahore Qalandars. The highest PSL partnership for Lahore is 155 between Dunk and Samit Patel during the last week’s match against Quetta.


Hafeez @ 6000 runs:

6015 – Mohammad Hafeez completed 6000 runs in the Twenty20 format with his first runs of this game. He is only the 2nd player from Pakistan after Shoaib Malik (9800) to amass 6000 runs in T20 cricket.
