Lahore Qalandars raced to their 3rd consecutive win of the PSL 2020 as the edged past the Peshawar Zalmi by 5 wickets on Tuesday night. Haiden Ali (69 off 43) and Shoaib Malik (62 off 43) put on 116 for the 4th wicket in only 12 overs after the Zalmi lost three wickets inside four overs. Fakhar Zaman (63 off 46) and Chris Lynn (59 off 32) put on a 96 for the 2nd wicket by scoring fifties. Their dismissals left Lahore needing 40 from 23 balls which was chased down on the penultimate ball thanks to a maximum from David Wiese.

End of Lahore’s losing streak against Peshawar:

2-8 – Only the second time the Lahore Qalandars has defeated Peshawar Zalmi in ten meetings in the Pakistan Super League. The first-ever PSL win for the Lahore against Peshawar came during their 2nd meeting of the 2016 edition. Qalandars lost seven successive matches against Zalmi between these two wins.


A first for Lahore:

3 – Lahore Qalandars have won each of their last three matches. This is the first time they won three consecutive games in the Pakistan Super League. Qalandars, in fact, won three in a row in 2018 as well but the 2nd win of that streak came through Super Over. Lahore have not be unbeaten for two games in a row in the PSL other than these two streaks.


Another big chase by Qalandars:

188 – Lahore Qalandars’ successful chase of 188 is now their joint 2nd highest successful chase in the Pakistan Super League. Their highest chase is 201 which came against the Multan Sultans in 2019. Qalandars also chased down 188 on Sunday against the Karachi Kings.

This is also the first instance of any team scoring in excess of 175 while chasing in the PSL against Peshawar Zalmi. The previous highest chase in the PSL against Zalmi was 173 by Islamabad in 2017. Peshawar posted 190/9 in that game but a spell of rain revised the target to 173 in 18 overs.


Haider Ali’s record innings:

19y 160d – Haider Ali, at the age of 19 years and 160 days, became the youngest player to score a fifty in the Pakistan Super League. The previous youngest player was Hussain Talat who was 21 years and 12 days old when he scored a 39-ball 56 for Islamabad United in the 2017 edition against Quetta Gladiators.


Malik @ 1000 runs:

1058 – Shoaib Malik completed 1000 runs in the Pakistan Super League when he when on four. He is now only the 4th player from Pakistan and overall the 6th player to amass 1000 PSL runs. Malik is also the slowest to this milestone among the six players as he needed 42 innings to get there.


Samit gets Kamran yet again:

4 – Kamran Akmal has been dismissed by Samit Patel on four occasions in the PSL. The left-arm spinner bowled 16 balls in the league to Akmal who scored 14 runs amidst the four dismissals.
