PSL 2020: Match 6, Karachi Kings vs Quetta Gladiators – Gladiators’ success while chasing, Jordan’s career milestone and more stats

Defending champions Quetta Gladiators bounced back from a big loss against Peshawar Zalmi as they defeated Karachi Kings by five wickets on Sunday. The Quetta bowlers were successful in keeping the Karachi’s top-order quite during their brief presence at the crease. The home team struggled through their 20 overs and finished on 156/9.

The Gladiators’ chase didn’t get off to greatest of starts as they lost three wickets for 55 runs in 8.1 overs. However, Azam Khan scored a 30-ball 46 with help of 4 fours and 2 sixes to bring down the required rate. Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed took the team home with an unbeaten 28-ball 37.

Yet another win for Gladiators against Karachi:

6-3 – Quetta Gladiators now have won six out of the nine matches they played against Karachi Kings in the PSL. Karachi got better of the Gladiators in both meetings during the 2019 edition.


28 – Number of wins for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League; the joint-most for any team in the league history. They are tied on the top with Peshawar Zalmi who also have 28 wins but have played 49 matches whereas the Gladiators featured in only 46.


Gladiators’ recent record while chasing:

9-1 – Quetta Gladiators now have won nine of the ten matches while chasing since the start of the 2019 edition. Their only defeat while chasing in this period came against Karachi Kings by 1-run margin during the last edition’s game also in Karachi.


A game of run outs:

5 – As many as five players were dismissed run out during this game between Gladiators and Kings. Quetta’s Jason Roy, Shane Watson and Azam Khan were caught short of the crease while Karachi’s Chadwick Walton and Imad Wasim also were run out in this match.

Only once in a Pakistan Super League match more than five batsmen were dismissed run out – 6 players in the 2016 edition match between Islamabad United and Karachi Kings in Dubai.


Another 3-fer for Hasnain:

3/4 – Mohammad Hasnain took 3-wicket hauls in three of his last four PSL matches. He took 3/30 in the last season final and 4/25 in this season’s opening match. He took 3/33 in Sunday’s game against Karachi after returning with the figures of against Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday.


Jordan @ 200 wickets:

200 – Chris Jordan completed 200 wickets in the Twenty20 format with the wicket of Mohammad Nawaz. He is now only the 2nd player from England to claim 200 wickets in T20 cricket after Samit Patel (216).
