PSL 2021: Match 24 PES vs KAR Preview, Playing XI Updates, Live Streaming Details & Pitch Report

The Peshawar Zalmi’s confidence may not be all that high in the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Though they are placed third in the points table, they have won only four out of their eight games.

With two matches remaining, Wahab Riaz and Co can’t afford to be complacent. In their previous game, Multan Sultans beat them by eight wickets with as many as 21 balls to spare. The Zalmi are next set to lock horns with the Karachi Kings in the second of Tuesday’s doubleheader at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

A win will almost help them qualify for the next round. In their previous meeting, it was the Kings, who came out trumps by five wickets.

As far as Karachi are concerned, they haven’t won a lot of matches either, but are still in contention for a berth in the playoffs. With the Zalmi desperate to secure a victory, the Kings need to be on their toes throughout.

Sherfane Rutherford is presently the standout batter for the Zalmi in the tournament. In eight games, the left-hander has notched 210 runs at an average and strike rate of 35 and 142.85 respectively. Even in the previous match, he scored a timely half-century, though it came in a losing cause.

Shoaib Malik has had a couple of poor outings and he needs to make amends. David Miller has 116 runs at an average of 38.66. In the bowling department, Wahab Riaz has picked 11 wickets and has shown good form. The likes of Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Irfan have also been decent.

In the Kings’ batting lineup, Babar Azam is their top run-scorer with over 300 runs to show for his efforts. His opening partner, Sharjeel Khan, has a century in PSL 2021 but has strained a wee bit in the Abu Dhabi leg of the event. The onus will also be on Najibullah and Martin Guptill to deliver.

In the bowling department, fast bowlers Waqas Maqsood and Arshad Iqbal are their leading wicket-takers with six scalps each. But the latter has an economy of over 10, something which he needs to work on. Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim need to bring forth all their experience into play.
