Karachi Kings haven’t had anything to cheer for in the second leg of the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Imad Wasim-led team hasn’t won a single game at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Having lost three games on the trot, they are placed fifth in the points table. In their last match against the Peshawar Zalmi, Hazratullah Zazai blew them away with a 15-ball fifty. Due to the loss, they got pushed down to the fifth spot in the points table.

With two matches left, the Kings are next set to face the Lahore Qalandars in the second of Thursday’s doubleheader. The Qalandars, on the other hand, have slipped down to the third spot after back-to-back losses.

Batting second has turned out to be a major concern for them. From being the table toppers, Sohail Akhtar and Co are in a bit of strife. They need one more win to take a step closer to a playoff berth.

The Kings have had Babar Azam as their standout batter thus far. The Lahore-born is the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 424 runs at an average and strike rate of 84.80 and 139.47. Though he bagged a duck in the previous game, he is expected to make a comeback, keeping in mind his class.

Sharjeel Khan has had a form slump and Martin Guptill has looked in awful touch. In the bowling department, Imad Wasim has six wickets at an economy rate of 7.50. Arshad Iqbal and Waqas Maqsood have 13 wickets combined, but they have been expensive. The others also need to step up.

Fakhar Zaman has been the in-form batter for the Qalandars, but he needs to be a bit more consistent. The last time around, he got out cheaply. Mohammad Hafeez was exceptional when the tournament was taking place in Pakistan, but in Abu Dhabi, the veteran has strained to perform.

Tim David has been impressive lower down the order but needs support from the others. Ben Dunk hasn’t had much success either. In bowling, Shaheen Shah Afridi has been their standout performer with 12 wickets. Rashid Khan has eight wickets and he hasn’t had much to cheer for as well.
