The power-hitting coach is one of the roles that has been touching popularity at the moment and Ben Dunk is the recent addition to taking up the role for the Lahore Qalandars side in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Australian cricketer has been part of various franchises around the globe and he has been scoring the bulk of runs in the last two years for the Lahore Qalandars.

However, the left-hand batter wasn’t the first choice pick in the drafts for any franchise this season surprisingly and he had to come in the replacements for Phil Salt who is out with international commitments. Once, Salt returns, the 34-year-old Dunk will be part of the coaching panel instead of his batting duties for PSL 2022.

Dunk did not have the best of seasons in PSL 2021 scoring just 163 runs in 10 games at an average of just over 20. however, he played immensely well in the 2020 season where he finished as the fourth-highest run-getter with 300 runs in 11 games at an average of 37.50 which included an unbeaten 99.

He can take up the wicketkeeping duties as well as roll his arm over with some decent off-spin. He managed to play 5 T20 internationals for Australia in which he could not make the most of his opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan international side is seeking a power-hitting coach as well and a number of options have been considered. There have been talks of Shahid Afridi being the front runner to take up the role while he has admitted that he hasn’t been approached for the role yet. Pakistan put out an excellent show in the T20 World Cup 2021 recently having reached the semi-finals and they will be disappointed not to have won the trophy.
The Lahore Qalandars side is yet to win a PSL trophy and they will be hoping to turn it around soon this time as the action starts on January 27.
