PSL 2022: Multan Sultans secure England all-rounder David Willey in supplementary draft

David Willey is one of the better all-rounders going around in the globe and Multan Sultans will be delighted after including the England pacer in their squad in the supplementary round. The 31-year-old was recently part of England’s squad in the T20 World Cup 2021 but was benched for most of the games. His overall numbers in the format are exceptional with 191 wickets in 196 T20 games at an average of 22.9.
Willey was picked in the Diamond category while the other pick for the Sultans was Rizwan Hussain (Silver) in the supplementary round. The franchise also picked West Indies cricketers Johnson Charles and Dominic Drakes in the replacement round. The other noticeable big player, who was picked in the replacement round, was West Indies hard-hitting batter, Shimron Hetmyer. Quetta Gladiators picked him in the Diamond category.
Musa Khan back in Islamabad United’s squad
The 21-year-old Musa Khan, who already has made his debut in international cricket for Pakistan, will continue his stint in the PSL 2022 season with Islamabad United. The Sultans, who managed to lift the PSL title for the first time in 2021, will start their title defense from the 27th of January against the Karachi Kings. Karachi and Lahore will be the venues for the entire season, scheduled to end on the 27th of February,2022.
“Lahore Qalandars, who had the second pick in the first round, picked pacer Mohammad Imran Randhawa. In the next four picks; Islamabad United added pacer Musa Khan, who played for them in 2019, 2020, and 2021 seasons; Quetta Gladiators reserved their pick; Multan Sultans picked England pacer David Willey; and, Peshawar Zalmi picked Mohammad Umar,” an official statement read as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“Each franchise was allowed to pick a maximum of one foreign cricketer out of the two supplementary picks,” the statement added.
