Indian badminton star PV Sindhu went on to accomplish yet another feat in her career as she overhauled Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the finals of the Korean Super Series by beating her in a three-set thriller (22-20, 11-21, 21-18). This was the second time she met her Japanese rival in less than a month.
She was handed defeat by the Okuhara in the 110-minute thriller in the finals of BWF Badminton Championship held in Glasgow, Scotland. Sindhu clinched her third Superseries title with her win in the Korean Super Series. The match treated us with a thriller being a see-saw going from one end to the other.
In the second set, we saw a different version of the Japanese as she took her game to the next level. Sindhu had no answer Okuhara’s reply in the second set as she only managed to gather 11 points, after winning the First set comfortably. Once again, it took a 3-setter to finalize the winner of the contest between the two giants of Badminton.
Okuhara came back strongly after conceding a lead in the third set but found it difficult when Sindhu stepped up her game in during the business end.
When Sidhu was just a couple of points away from match point, both Sindhu and Okuhara were engaged in a 56 shot rally in the final set, which was the highlight of the riveting match.
As a result, fellow Hyderabadis VVS Laxman and Mohammad Azharuddin took to Twitter to convey their special messages and glorify her special feat. By the looks of it, Virender Sehwag consistently followed her journey in series as he lauded as she progressed from one round to the other.
Here are some of the messages for PV Sindhu
