It was another action-packed day at the Qatar T10 League, which incidentally saw two teams get bowled out on the day inside 10 overs in two different matches. It is not a sight we witness often, but it also throws light on how unpredictable the game of cricket can get. The fans definitely enjoyed some big names back in action.
The first action of the day came between Swift Gallopers and Pearl Gladiators. Having won two games already, the Gallopers came out to bat first with confidence booming among themselves. They put on a stellar show for the audience in Doha, with opener Zaheer Ibrahim and Ali Imran giving them a solid start at the top.
Courtesy some more boundaries towards the end from Ravinderpal Singh, the Gallopers posted 115 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Ajanta Mendis picked up 2 wickets for Pearl, but he also gave away 28 runs in his two overs. Mohammad Sami and Mohammed Nadeem picked up a wicket each.
In the run chase, which was always going to be very difficult, the Gladiators went for the full-monty and failed in their approach. Their intent was clear and correct for the time they were in, but they got bowled out for 67 runs in the process. Ali Imran and Zainudheen were the stars with the ball, registering figures of 3/16 and 2/8 respectively.
Amad Butt rips apart the Oryxes
Talk about chopping the wings off someone who loves to fly, Amad Butt did exactly the same to the Flying Oryxes on Thursday. The 24-year-old pacer from Punjab picked up three wickets for the franchise without giving away a single run. The Oryxes barely had a sniff at the boundary, scoring just 2 fours and 2 sixes in their entire innings.
They posted just 45 runs on the board before getting bowled out in 9.2 overs. Besides Amad Butt, Waqas Maqsood and Murad Khan picked up two wickets each. Veterans Salman Butt and Hashim Amla completed the game in style in just 4.3 overs which boosted their net run-rate big time.
