Indian legend Rahul Dravid recently revealed that a total of 280 would be enough to contain a side like Pakistan and would ideal to make them chase in the high-pressure situation of finals. Dravid also mentioned that Virat Kohli should stick to what has worked for the team in their journey to the finals.
The former number three batsman for India in Test Cricket stressed on the fact the Indian team also has experienced professionals in the team who strive for the high-pressure situations, and their expertise would come in handy in the finals of the Champions Trophy.
The India under 19 coach also revealed the key for Pakistan to deal with the might of Indians as far as batting is concerned. According to Dravid, Pakistan should look to take wickets as they suffered the last time India played against Pakistan due to their inability to pick wickets.
“I think Virat has to stick to what’s worked well for him. India loves chasing, we saw that today. They have got some really experienced players who have played in big pressure games, they know how to handle these kinds of situations and I think this is a tactic that works for them,” quoted Rahul Dravid according to ESPNcricinfo.
“I think if you get Pakistan chasing in the final, anything above 280, you would be happy. Look if we have the batsmen in hand, and they do play the extra batsman, Kedar Jadhav, at 6 and they have Hardik Pandya at 7 and they have shown that he can be pushed up a little bit,” continued Dravid.
Dravid’s guidelines for Pakistan
Rahul Dravid concluded by emphasising on the importance of picking wickets regularly against India. “You know they’ve probably learned from the last time they played India, in that they didn’t take wickets and India hurt them really badly in the last seven or eight overs, so they can’t afford to let that happen again.” ended Rahul Dravid.
