Rajasthan Royals appoint former cricketer as head of cricket

Rajasthan Royals are all prepped up ahead of their comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ahead of the IPL 2018 auctions, the team retained the services of Australian skipper Steve Smith for the upcoming season. They have gone forward and made another useful appointment in the team management ahead of the 11th edition of the tournament.

The new signing is a former Mumbai first-class cricketer and though he will not be a part of the playing team will still hold a crucial position in the RR setup. Zubin Bharucha and he will take up a key role for them as their head of cricket. He will now be in charge of all cricketing affairs for the Jaipur based franchise. Bharucha’s association with Rajasthan Royals goes back to the maiden year of the IPL. He has been associated with the franchise since then.

The squad will greatly benefit from Zubin’s analytical skills and guidance

Manoj Badale who is the co-owner of the Royals franchise alongside Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty laid his confidence on Zubin. He believed that the presence of the former Mumbai cricketer will be instrumental in determining Rajasthan Royals success in the upcoming IPL.

“I believe Zubin’s immense experience will be instrumental in the identification and development of a new team that will go on to bring honour and success to Rajasthan Royals. With him stepping in as Head of Cricket the squad will greatly benefit from his analytical skills and guidance,” he said.

Delighted to be associated with Rajasthan Royals again

Zubin expressed his happiness on being associated with the Rajasthan franchise again. He indicated that the Royals would continue to foster the growth of young players. A tradition that they’ve adopted since the inception of the IPL.

“It’s a great honour and privilege to once again be part of the Rajasthan Royals franchise. The philosophy at the Royals has always been about finding the next generation of Indian Stars. We spend a lot of time getting to know our players, but spend infinitely longer hours on what they can become,” he stated.

The former cricketer further described the efforts that go into nourishing young talent. Terming it as an exciting process, Bharucha explained how the process starts with analysing the stats.

“This is the most exciting aspect of the role, taking raw talent and watching it flourish. This exercise often starts at the doorsteps of our statistical & analytical situation room in Chennai. It is then translated into cricket language through our coaching staff to bring about the results we seek,” he said.
