However, the uncertainty of Stokes participation looms large over the Royals following off-field brawls and police investigations. Nevertheless, Manoj Badale, chairman of the Royals sounded confident on their choice and spoke about his selection in a recent interaction with the media. “We have not just bought Ben Stokes for this season but for the future development of the franchise. We were fully aware of his trial, but we cannot worry about the outcome of things that we can’t control,” he said

The Chairman hailed Stokes and also showered praises on Jaydev Unadkat who they picked for 11.5 crores, for lending balance to their side ahead of the upcoming season. “We are excited by both players (Stokes and Unadkat) joining the Royals. Both bring unique skills and also create a unique balance. The fact that they were costly simply confirms that other teams see their value as well.” Badale added.

Rajasthan Royals have also shelled out hefty amounts for other cricketers as well and they look a balanced unit altogether ahead of the tournament that begins in the first week of April. Nevertheless, the Royals would be praying for Stokes to be available for them throughout the entire duration of the IPL.
