Well known BCCI official Rajeev Shukla got trolled on Twitter for congratulating the Indian Women’s Team after their historic win over Australia. Shukla, in his tweet, congratulated Mithali Raj and her women for making it to the ICC ‘Champions Trophy final’. Yes, that is what the IPL chairman wrote, instead of writing the ICC Women’s World Cup final.

Rajeev Shukla was quick to delete his tweets but it could not escape the eyes of the always alert Twitteratis and he got embarrassed on the social media platform.  Shukla’s tweet read “Congratulations to @BCCIWomen team for making it into the Champions Trophy final by beating Australia. Great knock by @imHarmanpreet”. In his effort to praise the whole Indian side and star of the show Harmanpreet Singh for her 171 run knock, the 57-year-old committed a silly mistake.

However, Rajeev Shukla deleted the tweet later and posted a series of tweets dedicated to the Women’s team. It seemed that the member of the BCCI still could not get over the Indian men’s team horrific loss to Pakistan in the final of the recently concluded Champions Trophy.

His new tweets showered praises for the Women’s team and lauded Harmanpreet for her stellar knock. Shukla also wished the team best of luck for their final encounter against England at Lords. He went on to mention that this is a remarkable moment in the cricket history of the country.

The match:

India silenced their critics in the most appropriate way as they crushed the Aussies in the all important semi-final clash. In an inning of a lifetime, Harmanpreet Kaur manhandled the Australian bowlers to put up a score of 171 runs from just 115 balls. Harmanpreet was given support by captain Mithali Raj which saw the team put up a formidable total of 281 runs in their 42 overs. The Aussies gave close competition chasing the target but fell short of the mark by 36 runs. Deepti Sharma and Jhulan Goswami rose up to the occasion with the ball.
